Before I commence, my deepest condolences go to those that have been affected by the horrendous attacks that have recently happened in Paris, Lebanon and over the Sinai Peninsula. This is a time to stay strong and realise that the forces of terrorism will never overtake the global community that will always reject this disgusting ideology of mass hurt for whatever purpose. Terrorists will never win and all their efforts in destabilising the world community will always end up in failure. We stand united against terrorism and we will fight it until it is completely eradicated.

Let’s take a step back for a moment. I will not try and blame anyone for the uncontrolled expansion of ISIS or attempt to find out why such entity was established in the first place. This is a subject of much dispute and I want to steer clear of politics when I convey my message in this article today. In the midst of the recent terrorist attacks, it is no doubt that the global community has been shattered and at first it appears that the idea of security on our streets has been undermined. The inability to comprehend what goes through the minds of terrorists when they perform such barbaric acts will never be something that I attempt to resolve. Quite frankly, I don’t want to know what it is. What’s more disturbing is the speed with which SIS (do note that I have refrained from using the abbreviation adopted by the mainstream media as I strongly believe that this entity has no familiarity with Islam – a religion of peace) has infiltrated our communities through the use of the social media. Their carefully instrumented campaigns radicalise the youth in impoverished and  indeed developed areas around the world, utilising the despair of individuals to recruit fighters for their ‘cause’. Whilst this prospect may seem daunting, I stress that we should not fear them. Fear is exactly what SIS want. They want us to marginalise the refugees and destabilise our local communities. They want us to become judgemental and fracture the social cohesion which we stand for. The only viable response to their attacks would be to unite. Hollande’s push to create a global coalition against SIS with Russia and US is a first but limited step towards eradicating SIS. However, SIS is not just a physical entity dominating parts of Syria and Iraq – it is above all an ideology. An ideology of such sort can only be defeated with a global united front. This must involve a political resolution to the current crisis in Syria and a greater effort for ensuring security within the Middle Eastern region. Of course these things are significantly easier said than done and I state things that are obvious but we have the willingness to tackle these issues and we will succeed. It is absolutely least that we can do to commemorate the deaths of the innocent people.

I have a personal message to ISIS: ‘ You are delusional and you will never win’. We will fight back stronger and more determined. At the end of the day, there are 7 billion people in the world and only a handful of you.
